Robert “Bob” W. Barnhart, 84, of Fenelton passed away Sunday morning at VA Butler Healthcare.

Born on Nov. 27, 1927, in Concord Township, he was the son of the late George Hutchison and Florence Emminger Barnhart.

Robert served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater of Operations in World War II. He retired from Armco Works, now AK Steel, after 13 years of service.

He was a member of Saint John's Catholic Parish of Coylesville, where he was a member of the St. John's Parish Council for more than 35 years, and served on the administration committee and as an usher. In 1967, he was honored for his years of service by the Rev. Patrick McCarthy and in 1999, was the first member from St. John's Parish to receive the Manifesting the Kingdom honor from the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia A. (Rodgers) Barnhart, who he married on Aug. 27, 1947.

He is survived by his children, Chris and Henry McNutt of Fenelton, Robert Jr. and Robin Barnhart of Fenelton and Melinda “Wendy” and Nick McClaine of Cabot; grandchildren, Rhiana “Roni,” Lanea, Emily and Robert III “Robbie;” great-grandchildren, Vicky, Terry, Katie, Grace, Abby and Rylee; sister, Margaret “Peg” Morrow of Fenelton; brother, Gerald “Tom” Barnhart of Fenelton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a sister, Emmabell Hepler; and brothers, George Barnhart, Paul Barnhart and John Barnhart.

<B>BARNHART — </B>Friends of Robert “Bob” W. Barnhart, who passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012, will be received at <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main Streets, Chicora, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.A Celebration of Life Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Coylesville. Interment will follow in the St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Coylesville. At the cemetery, full military honors will be conducted by members of the Chicora VFW, the Chicora American Legion, the East Brady American Legion Post and the 316th Readiness Command of Pittsburgh.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint John's Catholic Parish of Coylesville or VA Butler Healthcare.For information, directions and to extend condolences to the family visit www.steighnerfuneralhome.com.
