A Butler woman faces a felony charge after police said more than two bundles of heroin and bags of suspected crack cocaine were discovered in her vehicle.

State police charged Margo V. Barr, 47, with felony drug sales, and misdemeanor use and possession of drug paraphernalia following an October traffic stop.

On Oct. 11, police said they stopped a black Mercedes-Benz on Main Street in Butler City. The operator was identified as Nathan Sommers, 41, of Harrisville. Barr was identified as the passenger.

Police said Barr was discovered to have an active warrant from Allegheny County and was asked to exit the vehicle. During a pat down, police said a plastic container was found in the pocket of Barr’s hoodie.

When asked what the container was filled with, Barr “said candy and smiled,” according to documents. Suspected crack cocaine was found inside, and Barr also surrendered a crack pipe to police.

Penn Township police officers were requested to assist at the scene and searched Sommers. He was found in possession of a glass crack pipe and charged with use and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police later released him from the scene.

Barr granted police permission to search the vehicle and was taken to state police barracks.

“While at the station Barr stated ‘you are going to find it anyhow’ and (told police) to get the purple make up container (in the vehicle),” the investigating officer said.

After a searching the container, police found 23 wax stamp bags of suspected heroin and nine small bags of suspected crack cocaine. Barr also was found in possession of $586.

Police said Barr was taken back to her vehicle and released.

A preliminary hearing for Barr has not yet been scheduled. Sommers is scheduled to appear before District Judge William Fullerton Jan. 23.
