Doris Jean Weakland, 88, of Evans City, passed away Dec. 29, 2022, at the AHN Wexford Hospital surrounded by her children.

Born in 1934, in Wapakoneta, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Amelia (Elsass) Roth, and the sister of Richard Roth of Sidney, Ohio.

After graduating in 1952 from Montandon High School in Montandon, Pa., she went on to earn a degree in business administration from the Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She then worked as home economist for the Pennsylvania Electric Company in Altoona, Pa.

In 1959, Doris married Jerome “Jerry” Weakland, with whom she had seven children.

Doris enjoyed gardening, reading, watching documentaries, cooking, sewing and shopping for a bargain. Her faith was very important to her and she was an active member of her Catholic church community (originally St. Matthias in Evans City, now St. Gregory/Divine Grace Parish in Zelienople).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Amelia Roth of Altoona, Pa.; her husband, Jerry; and her daughters, Pamela and Mary.

She is survived by her brother, Richard Roth of Sidney, Ohio; her children, Patrick Weakland (Lynda) of Evans City, Carl Weakland of Evans City, Paul Weakland (Jodi) of Millersville, Md., Jill Hennessey (Pete) of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Eric Weakland (Jodi) of Mount Airy, Md.; and eight grandchildren, Sydney, Dominique, Ryan, Matthew, Amanda, Rigel, Austin and Deckard.

WEAKLAND — Friends and family of Doris Jean Weakland, who died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, will be received for visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at St. Gregory Catholic Church — Divine Grace Parish, 2 W. Beaver St., Zelienople.
