Fake GoFundMe created in Brackenridge police chief's name
A GoFundMe page for Brackenridge police chief Justin McIntire, who was killed Monday, has been has been identified as fake by the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office.
Posts made by the sheriff’s office on Facebook and Twitter warned the public to be aware that the page, created by a Michael McIntire, has no connection to McIntire or his family.
"Our office has been informed, and the public should be aware, that this page has no connection to Chief Justin McIntire or his family," the office said on Facebook.
As of 5:30 p.m., the account for Justin McIntire was no longer visible on the www.gofundme.com. Earlier Wednesday, the account appeared to have raised $540.
Funeral arrangements for the police chief are tentatively scheduled to take place Monday and Tuesday in New Kensington.
