Mable E. Heffer

Mable E. Heffer, 99, a resident of Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot went into the presence of Jesus Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot following a brief illness.

Mable was born Sept. 4, 1919, in Erie, and was a daughter of the late Gilbert and Martha (Montgomery) Morehouse.

She married the Rev. Robert Heffer on June 9, 1944. He preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 2008.

Mable was a graduate of Erie East High School and the Missionary Training Institute in Nyack, N.Y.

She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.

Mable and her husband pastored Christian and Missionary Alliance churches in Kent and Kinsman, Ohio, and North East, South Fork, Corry, New Stanton, Mahaffey and Burnside, Pa.

From 1970 until 1973, they served as dorm parents at Dalat School for missionary children in Malaysia.

The Heffers retired in Greenville, Pa. after 43 years of pastoral ministry and they served interim pastorates at Sandy Lake, Cambridge Springs and New Wilmington, Pa., and supplied pulpits in various churches.

Mable, along with her husband, was one of the original founders of the Edinboro Conference Grounds. She was active in Child Evangelism Fellowship and the Great Commission Women. She was the ideal pastor's wife and was known for her servanthood, hospitality and Christ-like example.

Mable is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Judy) Tunnecliffe of Sidman, Pa., Mrs. Craig (Jan) Henkel of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Mrs. Richard (Jeanne) Glauser of Butler; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mable was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Greg Monaghan; and three sisters, Bertha Nelson, Hazel Julian and Rosella Shaner.

HEFFER — Visitation for Mable E. Heffer, who died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, will be from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.An additional viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Crosswinds Alliance Church, 516 Freeport Road, Butler.A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 2 p.m. at the church with the Rev.
