Crews have been working since Sunday to make emergency repairs to a Pennsylvania American Water Co. main line on West Wayne Street just west of Beckert Avenue.

Workers thought they had the line repaired on Sunday, but a leak in the line necessitated more work on Monday morning.

An alert on the Pennsylvania-American Water Co. website posted Monday morning said those who reside in the area may have no water service, low pressure or cloudy water.

A map provided with the alert shows the affected area to be West Wayne Street from Beckert Avenue to Sullivan Run, meaning the main customers affected are the Butler Eagle offices and production center, and the homes facing north on West Wayne Street from Sullivan Run to Beckert Street.

The expected return time for water service is 2:30 p.m., according to the alert.

If water is discolored, customers are advised to run the cold water taps only at the lowest level of the house for three to five minutes until the water runs clear.
