Rebecca Hignet Street
Rebecca Ann "Becky" Hignet Street, 51, of Louisville, Ky., died in Louisville, where she lived with her husband and family for the past 20 years. She died after a monthlong stay at Baptist Hospital East, during which she was diagnosed with cancer and was unable to survive the complications.
Born Dec. 18, 1954, she was the daughter of Shirley Hignet and the late Stanley W. Hignet.
She was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area and attended Richland High School.
Alifelong scholar, she attended the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Wisconsin and the University of Louisville. She received degrees and studied mathematics, economics, business and actuary.
Mrs. Street was a department manager at Kroger, where she worked for 13 years.
She had been a Girl Scout in her youth and then served as an adult troop leader for three troops.
She enjoyed reading, music, art and gardening, but her true love was animals, particularly dogs, including her four surviving furry friends: Puppet, Echo, Bear and Bandita.
Surviving are her husband, Gary Street; her mother of Mars; a sister, Suzanne Hignet of Mars; and four daughters, Callie Hopper Kaczmarek and her husband, Michael, of Zelienople, Megan Hignet and Bethany Street, both of Louisville, and Angelina Dattola of Zelienople.
