William Henry “Bill” Christy Jr., 83, of Grove City, passed away at AHN Grove City on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023.

He was born in Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County on Nov. 27, 1939, to William Henry Christy Sr. and Virginia Louise Turner Christy.

He married Ruth Carolyn Altman on Oct. 19, 1967, and she survives at home.

Bill grew up in the Brent area and retired from Cooper Energy in Grove City in 2000. While at Cooper, he worked in the foundry as a molder, and later worked in maintenance for the foundry, and then in factory maintenance.

Bill was a great guy! He was a wonderful husband and assisted Ruth with many of the tasks around the household. They enjoyed spending time together.

In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and gardening. He was a handyman who could fix or build anything. He enjoyed making hand crafts with wood, watching Westerns and going to ballgames.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; three sons, Michael W. (Vanessa) Christy of Grove City, Gregory A. Christy of Barkeyville and Eric S. (Nicole) Christy of Butler; two sisters, Judy Cooke of Grove City and Debbie (Ron) Hardisky of New Castle; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed and Jerry.

CHRISTY — The family of William Henry “Bill” Christy Jr., who died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Village of Leesburg, 1778 Perry Hwy., Volant.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Earl Dykes of the Barkeyville United Methodist Church presiding.

Interment will be in Allegheny Cemetery in Butler County.
