Florence Ruth Polliard

Florence Ruth Polliard, 100, of Mount Dora, Fla., formerly of Fredonia, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Edgewater Nursing Home, Mount Dora.

She was born in Limestone Township, Clarion County, May 17, 1911, to John Price Crozer King and Bertha E. Stahlman King.

On Dec. 29, 1936, she married George T. Polliard, who died Jan. 3, 2000.

She was a graduate of Clarion Normal School, now Clarion University of Pennsylvania. She taught school in Porter Township, Clarion County, at one time and was a co-owner with her husband at Polliard's Service, Delaware Grove, Pa.

She was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church, Mercer, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star 180 and the White Shrine 47.

She is survived by one daughter, Jean L., wife of Patrick H. Cannassa, of Apopka, Fla.; three grandchildren, Curtis, Laura and Monica; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Jane Sunderlin; one granddaughter, Valerie Elliott; two sisters, Claire V. King and Ethel Z. King; and one brother, J. Grant King.

<B>POLLIARD</B> — Visiting hours for Florence Ruth Polliard, who died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 144 S. Pitt St., Mercer.The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with David Fox of Butler officiating.Burial will be in Squirrel Hill Cemetery, Porter Township, Clarion County.Memorial contributions in her name can be made to Mercer Area Library, 143 N. Pitt St., Mercer, PA 16137
