Eric G. McCandless Sr.
Eric G. McCandless Sr., 81, of Palm Springs, Calif., formerly of Harmony, passed away on May 26 in Palm Springs.
Born Jan. 18, 1937, in Bellevue, he was the son of the late Lee McCandless and Claudine Hulmer Graham.
Eric was a proud member of Grace Church of Harmony.
He retired in 2001 from Robinson Industries after 33 years of service.
A passionate Civil War re-enactor, he traveled the country with his wife, Donna J. McCandless, to many re-enactments. Their favorite was the annual Gettysburg Civil War Battle re-enactment.
He was also a member of SASS (Single Action Shooting Society), a group dedicated to preserving the history of the Old West. His hobbies included collecting a wide range of antiques, reading up on sailing ships, collecting model ships and black powder guns.
Eric is survived by his three children, Michele Cannon of Zelienople, Marcelle Taft of Lake Forest, Calif., and Eric G. McCandless Jr. of Glendale, Calif.; three granddaughters, Kelly Cannon, Delani Taft and Sydni Taft; and a sister, Claudine Ramsey of Loveland, Colo.
In addition to his parents, Eric was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna J. McCandless, who passed away on April 9, 2003.
MCCANDLESS — A memorial service in celebration of the life of Eric G. McCandless Sr., who died Saturday, May 26, 2018, will be held at noon Friday at Grace Church of Harmony, 538 Main St., Harmony.
