Slippery Rock School District makes counseling available after student dies in fatal crash
Additional support and counseling is being made available to students at Slippery Rock Area School District after a high school student was killed Sunday in a one-vehicle crash on a snow-covered road in Slippery Rock Township.
The teen was a passenger in a 2011 Honda Pilot driven by a 17-year-old boy from Butler when the accident happened at 6:15 p.m. on Route 8 at Kiester Road, according to state police.
“The high school staff, counselors and even Butler County Center for Community Resources applied for counselors to help and assist us with what was going on at our high school today, with our grieving students and staff,” superintendent Alfonso Angelucci said Monday. “They were a big help.”
The school district is not disclosing the student’s name at this time, Angelucci said.
Angelucci thanked the staff, district and counselors in his superintendent’s report before the school board Monday.
Angelucci said that the 17-year-old boy who survived the crash has been released from the hospital, following treatment for his injuries, he said.
