Dispatchers at the county 911 center were busy Wednesday morning as snow and a wintry mix swept over the county.

Snow in the northern half of Butler County began in the early hours of Wednesday , while the southern half saw no flakes until about 7:15 a.m.

The white stuff fluttered down fast and furious through the morning commute, then changed to a wintry mix of freezing rain and snow before turning over to rain for a short time.

State Department of Transportation District 10 officials announced many roads had been pretreated to prevent ice from bonding to the surface, and set traffic restrictions for interstate highways.

The PennDOT highway restrictions were lifted at 2:15 p.m.
