Louis J. Sharek
Louis Joseph Sharek, 61, of North Liberty Plain Grove Road, Liberty Township, Mercer County, died Sunday in a motorcycle accident in Pine Township, Mercer County.
Born in New Castle, Oct. 27, 1948, he was the son of Joseph L. Sharek and Flora E. Fascetti Sharek.
He married Anne Jean Zarenko on Oct. 3, 1981. She died July 18, 2003.
He was employed at Thomas & Betts of Mercer, formerly known as Reznor.
Mr. Sharek was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Slippery Rock.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division as a combat infantry soldier.
He was a member of the U.S. Steelworkers Union and a life member of the Stanley Snyder VFW Post 7465 and the Richard E. Craft American Legion, both of Springfield Township, Mercer County. He had a full membership in the Harley Owners group.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his Harley.
Surviving are a daughter, Betty Jo Sharek Pagley; and three sisters, Pearl and her husband, Donald Shaffer, Flora and her husband, Dennis Alquist, and Darlene and her husband, Alvin Sholler. Also surviving are two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
<B>SHAREK </B>— Visitation for Louis Joseph Sharek, who died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Father Kevin Poecking, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
