A shooting this afternoon in McKeesport, just south of Pittsburgh, has left one police officer dead and another one injured, according to multiple Pittsburgh media outlets.

Allegheny County police are actively on scene.

Media outlets reported that officers were responding to a domestic situation when a man involved opened fire at the officers.

Reports state that the shooter also was shot, but his condition and the condition of the officer are unknown at this time. The injured officer is in surgery.

McKeesport Area School District placed all schools on an exterior lockdown that has since been lifted.
