I know not everyone is the biggest fan, but for me, any bad day can turn around if chocolate is involved.
With Valentine’s Day approaching, there are ample opportunities for delicious goodness in shops and at events everywhere, especially in Butler. Event planners seem to pull out all the stops this time of year.
And with all of the events going on this weekend, you’re sure to find a sweet treat while enjoying all the community has to offer.
Even if you don’t have a particularly sweet tooth, there’s plenty of events in Butler County this weekend that will pique your interest. Have a look at some listed below.
Carved in Ice by Butler AM Rotary is a weekend of cool spectacles. From 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, it’s Lights on the Ice night. You can watch master ice carvers hard at work. The event picks up again at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, which is family fun day. Enjoy contests, games, demonstrations and food this weekend at Diamond Park in downtown Butler.
Stop by the Purse-A-Palooza from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at the Tanglewood Center, 10 Austin Ave., Lyndora, and support Butler Golden Tornado Football.
Take a trip back in time and learn the history of one of Butler’s most important roads. The History of Route 8 talk by Steve Cicero starts at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at the Sen. Walter Lowrie House, 123 W. Diamond St. Reserve your place by calling 724-283-8116 or visiting butlerhistory.com. Nonmember admission is $10.
During the Cupid’s Chase 5K, racers will raise money to support housing and employment for people with disabilities. You can participate by showing up at Lake Arthur Golf Club, 255 Isle Road, Franklin Township, before 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11. The event is open to walkers and runners. Read to cats at the Butler County Humane Society from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the shelter, 1015 Evans City Road, Connoquenessing Township. Children in grades one through five are welcome. Call 724-789-1150 to schedule a slot.
