Helen Herb
Helen Herb, 80, of Forward Township passed away Saturday at St. John's Specialty Care Center in Mars.
Born Feb. 5, 1935, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Gottlob and Julie Veronica Feil.
In 1953, Helen married the love of her life, Roland Herb, and in January of 1960 moved to Evans City to begin their dream of owning and operating a dairy farm. That dream was realized in 1962, when White Oak Farm officially opened for business offering raw milk for 65 cents a gallon.
Her greatest joys were raising her family, watching and supporting her grandchildren in all that they did, working on her farm, planting trees and being her husband's co-pilot as they flew around the U.S. in his Piper Cherokee.
Helen was a longtime faithful member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Evans City. She was a member and former president of the Evans City PTO. Helen was mother adviser of the Elsie Hartje Rainbow Girls in 1972 and was a district deputy of housing for the PA Grand Assembly for many years. She was a member, and from 1989 to 1990 was the Worthy Matron of the Bethlehem Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
After many years of dedicated service, Helen retired from the Seneca Valley School District, where she fulfilled her role as a teacher's aide and school bus driver.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 62 years, Roland Herb; her three daughters, Sue Ann (Dave) Jones, Diane (Jeff) Iman and Tammy Herb; her son, William (Debra) Herb; her sister, Mary Remele; and her six grandchildren, Erik Jones, Kirt (Ashley) Jones, Kory (Heather) Jones, Tim (Danielle) Iman, Amanda Martin and Adam Herb.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter and a grandson, Drew Martin.
