College senior Sam Anderson, of Emlenton in Venango County, was among 13 recipients of a 2023 Pennsylvania Farm Show Scholarship.

Anderson, who majors in biological engineering, plans to work as a combine field test engineer in New Holland after graduating in May.

Established in 1993, the Pennsylvania Farm Show Scholarship Foundation initially drew on support from industry leaders and three companies, each of which donated $11,000. Current funding for the scholarship comes from the Farm Show’s champion animal sales; contributions from buyers at the Farm Show’s Junior Livestock Sale; the foundation’s annual membership auction and dinner; corporate membership dues; individual donations; and proceeds from hotel and restaurant listings published annually in the Farm Show Accommodations Brochure. The Foundation has awarded $1 million in scholarships to 395 4-H and Future Farmers of America youths since 1993.
