Storm hits southern Butler County Friday evening
The National Weather Service of Pittsburgh issued a special weather statement Friday evening, warning of the possibility of a strong thunderstorm that could include nickle-sized hail.
The statement said at 5:48 p.m. a strong thunderstorm was located over Sarver, or 11 miles northwest of Vandergrift, moving northwest at 15 mph.
Locations impacted include: Butler, Homeacre-Lyndora, Meridian, Sarver, Freeport, Saxonburg, Nixon, East Butler and Connoquenessing.
Torrential rainfall also is occurring with this storm and may cause localized flooding.
The service also warns that people should not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
