Althea Regis Grimes

Althea Regis Grimes, 92, of Grove City, formerly of Clintonville and Muddy Creek Township, died Thursday at Grove Manor following an extended illness.

She was born July 28, 1913, in Washington, Pa., the daughter of Melvin and Myrtle Humphreys.

Mrs. Grimes graduated from Washington High School.

She was a homemaker, and she enjoyed spending time with her family and loved her many cats. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting.

Mrs. Grimes was a member of Muddy Creek United Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed the quilting club and belonged to the Cross and Crown Club.

She is survived by four children, James M. Grimes and his wife, Marquita, of Rockville, Md., Jerry L. Grimes and his wife, Velma, of Slippery Rock, Ronald G. Grimes and his wife, Debbie, of Slippery Rock, and Jeanie Midkiff of West Sunbury; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn A. Grimes, whom she married Jan. 9, 1937, and died in 1992; a daughter, JoAnn E. Ny; a grandson, Neil Surrena; an infant granddaughter; three sisters, Dorothy Breese, Mary Phillips and Betty McCombs, and a brother, Earl Humphreys.

GRIMES — Friends of Althea Regis Grimes, who died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at LARRY E. McKINLEY FUNERAL HOME 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Matthew Kail of the Muddy Creek United Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery in West Sunbury.
