Kenneth L. Smith
Kenneth L. Smith, 77, of Whitestown Road, formerly of Diamond Street in Butler, died Wednesday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born April 18, 1932, in Coaltown, a son of the late Kenneth L. and Luella Stutz Smith.
Ken was a dockworker for Black and White Express in Butler for 28 years, retiring in 1989. He also worked at the Pullman Center Shop 'N Save store, retiring in 2003.
He was an avid Steeler and Pirate fan, and he enjoyed watching professional golf and Tiger Woods. Ken also was a fisherman, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren.
His wife, Sandra Vargo Smith, who he married Nov. 7, 1964, survives. Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth A. "Lou" and Tammy Smith of Cranberry Township; his daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Jayne) Paganelli of Butler; three brothers, Paul Smith, Ralph Smith and his wife, Margaret Smith, and Joe Smith, all of Butler; a sister, Mrs. Donald (Kay) Reott of Herman; and six grandchildren, Haleigh Smith, Breauna Henricks, Madison Paganelli, Alysha Glenn and Raymond Paganelli III and Maxximus Paganelli. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.
A brother and a sister preceded him in death.
<B>SMITH</B> — Friends of Kenneth L. Smith, who died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Panther, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.
