Martha Jean Sherman, 71, of Butler, passed away on March 3, 2023, at her residence in the fabulous care of her caretakers.

She was born Oct. 3, 1951, in Ellwood City, and was the daughter of the late Herman John Wahl and the late Mary Louise Boyer.

Martha graduated from Seneca Valley High School.

In her younger years, she worked in the janitorial services. Then she retired from Plaza Maintenance in New Castle.

Martha enjoyed playing bingo and cards. Martha also enjoyed spending the winters traveling down south to Florida and Mississippi.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Daniel) Lee; one grandchild, Samantha, and her fiancé, Cody; two great-grandchildren, William and River; one brother, Donald (Judy) Wahl; one sister-in-law, Kathy Wahl; two nieces, Kathleen (Bub) Rasely and Amy Iman; along with several other nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Alan Sherman; her twin sister, Edna L. Burr; her brother, John Charles Wahl; her great-nephew, Seth; and her beloved dog, Chewbug.

The family of Martha would also like to give special thanks to the hardworking staff at Good Samaritan Hospice.

SHERMAN — A celebration of life for Martha Jean Sherman, who died Friday, March 3, 2023, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Herman Fire Hall, 789 Herman Road, Butler.

Arrangements were entrusted to THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
