A-C Valley extends school year
Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District’s school year will be a few days longer because of the five days classes were canceled due to problems with water service.
The school board extended the school calendar because classes were canceled for five consecutive days due to water service problems caused by leaks in Foxburg Water and Sewer Authority lines.
Classes will now be held on Jan. 2, which was part of the Christmas break; April 18, which was part of the Easter break; and June 3-5. Graduation will be held on June 5.
The last day of classes originally was set for May 31, said Superintendent David McDeavitt.
Classes were held on the scheduled first day Aug. 29, but were canceled the next five days due to the water service issues.
The board approved the changes at Monday’s meeting.
