ADAMS TWP — Four Mars Area Centennial School students were members of the 2011 Pittsburgh Penguins Elite Hockey (Hannan) team this season.

Sixth-grader James Halliday and fifth-graders Jack Carlson, Joseph Costa and Owen Gulnac joined the team that finished the 2022-23 season with a 51-8-1 record, earning Labor Day Classic, Mid-Winter Classic and Year-End Showcase championship titles.

The Hannan Team is ranked No. 1 in the nation and No,. 3 in the world, outscoring opponents 333 to 97. The team had 22 wins against the Top 10 United States teams and six wins over the Top 10 Ontario teams.
