Helen Marie Zedreck Shedlock

Shedlock

Helen Marie Zedreck Shedlock, 84, passed away Friday in Tucson, Ariz., of natural causes.

Born Oct. 21, 1926, in Cherry Township, she was a daughter of Frank and Maxine Melish Zedreck.

She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Paul Andrew Shedlock. They were married Aug. 6, 1949, at the St. Louis Church in Claytonia.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Frank, Henry and Edward, and her sister, Francis Conn.

Helen is survived by her loving sister, Genevieve Swidzinski of Butler. Helen and Genevieve wrote letters to each other just about every week.

Helen also is survived by her two children, Catherine Marie Stern of Winthrop, Wash., and her husband, Howard Christian Stern, and Paul Eugene Shedlock of Tucson, Ariz., and his wife Jean Marie Shedlock; four grandchildren, Adam Christian Stern of Mendoza, Argentina, and his wife Myfanwy Turner, Jonathan Andrew Stern of Bend, Ore., Andrew Ross Shedlock of New Brighton, Minn., and his wife, Megan Jean Boom Shedlock, and Brian Patrick Shedlock of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and one great-granddaughter, Molly Dorothy Boom Shedlock.

Helen delighted in all her grandchildren's accomplishments and choices in their lives. Her oldest grandchild was married Sept. 18, 2011, in Mendoza, Argentina. She treasured seeing pictures via Skype of her great-grandchild Molly giggling.

Helen loved to send cards to friends and family. At the beginning of each month, she would buy the cards she needed for the month. She always lit a candle when anyone in the family was traveling. When you light a candle, think about our loving mom.
