Esther West Thompson
Esther West Thompson, 85, of Maryland died June 14 of complications related to gall bladder surgery.
She was born on Nov. 27, 1927, in Slippery Rock.
Esther was a graduate of the Cadet Nurse Corps Program and was a registered nurse who worked up until the birth of her second daughter, Barbara. Esther loved the Redskins and college basketball, Go Terps!, and was especially fond of her granddaughters and great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Eugene Thompson, who died in March of 2005.
She is survived by her brother, John West; sister, Isabel McDeavitt; two daughters, Jill (Bill) McDonald and Barbara Fil (Sibley) Thompson; three granddaughters, Heather (Todd) McDonald Carver, Holly McDonald and Hillary (Jim) Blaney; and great-granddaughters, Alexa Carver, Abigael and Evelyn Blaney.
THOMPSON — A private family wake for Esther West Thompson, who died Friday, June 14, 2013, was held in Maryland. A memorial service will be at the Mt. Jackson Presbyterian Church, 129 Mt. Air Road, Mt. Jackson, New Castle, at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013.Donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Cancer Research Institute in lieu of flowers.
