Conno man pleads guilty to assaulting girl
Information about a Connoquenessing Township man who fondled a young girl for years will appear on the state’s Megan’s Law Internet site.
In Butler County Court Tuesday, Kenneth R. Newingham, 51, pleaded guilty to indecent assault of a person under age 13.
He was sentenced by Butler County Judge Timothy McCune to serve 3 to 12 months in prison followed by 6 years of probation. Based on the time he already served in prison awaiting resolution of his case, he will be immediately paroled.
Because the judge decided Newingham is a sexually violent predator under the state’s Megan’s Law, he must register his whereabouts with state police for the rest of his life.
Court records say that when questioned by state police, Newingham confessed to fondling the girl from 2006, when the girl was 9 years old, until 2010.
Neither the victim nor the defendant spoke during the sentencing hearing.
However, the victim’s aunt did speak, telling Judge McCune her niece is now in counseling, takes prescription antidepressants and has nightmares.
