More than $601K in grants coming to three municipalities
Just over $601,000 is coming to projects in Buffalo Township, Jefferson Township and Chicora.
State Rep. Marci Mustello, R-11th, announced on Thursday that Local Share Account grants will support projects in the three municipalities, which are within her legislative district.
Buffalo Township will receive $372,828 for sediment-reduction equipment in stormwater basins, ditches and storm drains.
The equipment will reduce sediment in local watersheds.
“We need help to pay for the equipment necessary to get the job done effectively,” said Rich Hill, Buffalo Township manager. “This will go a long way to help us get to our goal.”
Jefferson Township will receive $118,400 to install bathroom facilities at Laura J. Doerr Memorial Park.
Currently, there are two single-occupancy restrooms with flushable toilets to serve the entire park.
“The project will provide easier bathroom access for our younger athletes,” said Leo J. Rosenbauer III, Jefferson Township manager. “We are committed to making the park a place for health and well-being that is accessible by people of all ages.”
Chicora will get $110,000 in grant funds for the purchase of a new dump truck with attachments, as well as a zero-turn tractor.
The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority. Local Share Account grants are funded through gaming revenues.
