A suspicious vehicle eluded police Sunday night after a pursuit that began in Penn Township and ended in Shaler Township, Allegheny County.

According to state police, a silver 2012 Chevrolet Impala ran a red light at the intersection of Route 8 and Dinnerbell Road around 6:45 p.m. Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop when the vehicle accelerated and a chase began.

The pursuit continued along southbound Route 8 and ended in Shaler Township, Allegheny County.

Police said they are investigating.
