Eva Aubrey
Eva Aubrey, 88, of Butler passed away at 4:41 p.m. Friday at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.
She was born Oct. 11, 1921, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late John and Fannie (Lustkofski) Gordon.
Before being instrumental in the expansion and management of the family's golf course, Aubrey's Dubbs Dred, for the past 45 years, she experienced somewhat of a fairytale life as a young lady 70 years ago.
She modeled for Kaufmann's department stores in Pittsburgh and Elizabeth Arden in New York City and Hollywood, meeting and working with the famous movie stars of the day.
When her father died and her mother needed her help, she and her husband, George, moved back to Pittsburgh and built a bakery business in McKees Rocks. George and Eva, in 1965, changed their business from baking to golfing, buying and building what is now Aubrey's Dubbs Dred. She ran the clubhouse since 1965 and was known as "Grandma" to all who knew her and loved her.
Surviving are two sons, George G. Aubrey and Patricia of Butler and John M. Aubrey and his wife, Jeanne, of Butler; six grandchildren, George F. Aubrey III, Tanya A. Galofaro, Christal E. Milanovich, Heidi L. Aubrey, John M. Aubrey Jr. and Tiffany M. Aubrey; a great-granddaughter, Eva Marie Galofaro; two sisters, Mary Pawlik of Carnegie and Fannie Bowers of Imperial; and a brother, John "Pete" Coran of Pittsburgh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Aubrey Sr., who died June 6, 1974, and three sisters.
