Sara Ellen Cochran

Sara Ellen Cochran passed away peacefully Thursday at her home in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., at the age of 88.

She was born in Renfrew and lived in Butler her entire life before moving to Florida in 2005.

Sara was a retired house painter and owned The Painter Sisters until her retirement.

She was a member of Meridian United Presbyterian Church, where a memorial ceremony will be held in the future.

Sara was also a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary in Butler. Sara was quite sports minded and played softball, was an avid bowler, golfer and loved to fish.

She was preceded in death in November 2000 by her husband of 42 years, Paul R. Cochran; her parents, Herbert R. and Dorothy M. Doutt; and three sisters, Lois E. Laughner, Grace E. Miller and Dorothy J. Doutt.

Sara is remembered and will be dearly missed by her daughter, Paula (Dale) Fischer of Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.; son, David (Esther) Cochran of Butler; brother, John R. (Patricia) Doutt of Meridian; sister, Susan E. Smith of Butler; brother-in-law, Robert Laughner of Butler; grandchildren, Brandy L. (Michael Sr.) Bartz of Allison Park, Jarrod R. Gordon of Melbourne, Fla., Aiden C. Fischer of Howey-in-the-Hills, Eric L. Cochran of Poland, Ohio; Kim Christy of Butler, Cheryl L. Gilliland of Butler and Michelle Bowman of Butler; as well as nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
