Sara Wassum Fisk

Sara Wassum Fisk, 93, of Saxonburg, formerly of Mars and Pain-esville, Ohio, died Wedn-esday morning at Outlook Point in Saxonburg.

Born in Clarion County, Feb. 3, 1914, she was the daughter of Harry and Effie Mae Barto Wassum.

Mrs. Fisk earned her teaching degree from Indiana (Pa.) University and her master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She continued with summer studies at Penn State University and the University of Maine.

She started her teaching career in a one-room school in Pine Township and then taught fourth grade in the North Allegheny School District until she retired in 1971.

On Dec. 5, 1973, she married Paul H. Fisk and they moved to Painesville, Ohio, where she lived until 2002, when she moved to Saxonburg. Mr. Fisk died June 16, 1989.

She had been a member of the Painesville United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a step-daughter, Mrs. Robert (Polly) Sidley of Painesville, and a brother, Merle Wassum of Galloway, N.J.

She was the aunt of John P. Wassum (Linda) of Cabot, Mrs. Stanley (Judy) Wassum Ostrowsky of Galloway and Jean E. Wassum of Valencia; the great-aunt of John R. Wassum of Springboro, Ohio, Erik P. Wassum of Butler, Steven John Ostrowsky of Galloway and Mrs. Stephen (Beth) D'Ambra of Worcester, Mass.; and the great-great-aunt of Timothy, Stephen, Nicole, Mia and Ariana D'Ambra and Kyle, Kelly, Kate, Alyssa and Ashley Wassum.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Dean Wassum.

<B>FISK </B>— Friends of Sara Wassum Fisk, who died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave. Mars.Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev.
