Following the disappointing end to the 2022-23 NHL season, the Pittsburgh Penguins have relieved President of Hockey Operations Brian Burke, General Manager Ron Hextall and Assistant General Manager Chris Pryor of their duties with the team.

John Henry and Tom Werner, of Fenway Sports Group, released a statement Friday morning, April 14.

"We are grateful to Brian, Ron, and Chris for their contributions to the organization over the past two seasons, but we feel that the team will benefit from new hockey operations leadership. While this season has been disappointing, we believe in our core group of players and the goal of contending for the Stanley Cup has not changed."

During the search for new staff members, the transition will be aided by other members of the Penguins staff, including Head Coach Mike Sullivan.

The 2022-23 season brought an end to the Penguins 17-year playoff appearance streak, which was the longest playoff run among teams in North American professional sports and included three Stanley Cup Championships.
