Richard Borden

Borden

Richard Stanley “Rich” Borden, 61, of Cranberry Township, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023.

Born on Feb. 3, 1962, in Los Angeles, he was the son of the late Stanley Borden and Evelyn (Phillips) Borden.

Rich was the youngest of five brothers, Frank, Thomas, Robert and Ronald Borden. Rich had many fond memories of growing up on Collins Street in Woodland Hills, including making amateur comedic short films with his friends, which they called B&D (Borden & Dulgeroff) Productions.

Rich obtained his bachelor’s degree in journalism from California State University Northridge and began his career as a marketing and communications expert for Micom in Simi Valley, Calif.

He married his beloved wife, Felicia Cano (Beeson) Borden on May 2, 1987, and together they had two sons, Theodore Cameron Borden and Derek Matthew Borden. They lived in Moorpark in Southern California until they moved to Cranberry Township in 1995.

Rich continued his career in communications with FORE Systems, which later became Marconi. After his position at Marconi, he became director of internal communications at American Eagle Outfitters, which was by far his favorite of all the companies he had been with. He later did consulting work with several companies through Plug and Play Communications. His career in communications, especially in the earlier years, gave him the opportunity to visit many countries across the globe.

Rich loved traveling with his family, including visiting family in California, vacations to Disney (which was always a favorite of his), and vacations overseas to London, and on many cruises with his wife, Felicia. He also enjoyed blogging about his many travels through his online persona, Cruisin’ Rich. During his travels with his family, he considered himself an amateur photographer and documented his journeys through photos, scrapbooks, videos and home movies.

Besides family, Rich’s greatest passion was music, especially his favorite of all time, The Beatles, which he enjoyed collecting memorabilia and had a comprehensive knowledge of the history of the band. He enjoyed visiting some of the locations made famous by them in Liverpool on more than one occasion. He had a great appreciation for many other classic rock bands, among other genres, and loved going to concerts on occasion.

Rich was an avid fan of sports of all kinds, including college team sports, but he especially loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. He was an encyclopedia for all things sports-related and loved going to games or enthusiastically watching them at home or wherever he was.

Rich loved his family dogs including Tug, Ringo, Rocky, Monty, and most recently the family’s beloved pug dog, Bugsy.

In 2010, Rich’s mother, Evelyn moved back to Pennsylvania from Los Angeles to be close to Rich’s family in Cranberry Township. Rich faithfully cared for his mother until her passing in 2017.

Rich had a deep Christian faith and was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Cranberry Township.

He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

Rich is survived by his wife, Felicia; his sons, Ted Borden, and his wife, Michelle, of New Castle, and Derek Borden of Cranberry Township; his brothers, Thomas Borden of New York, Robert Borden and his wife, Georgann Waters, of Utah, and Ronald Borden of Las Vegas; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his eldest brother, Frank Borden, who is survived by his wife, Raquel.
