Eleanor 'Ellie' Green Wise
Eleanor “Ellie” Green Wise, 92, of Butler passed away Monday at her residence.
She was born March 14, 1927, in Philadelphia, and was the daughter of the late Otis H. Green and the late Mabel (Barnett) Green.
Eleanor was a homemaker and was a former member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
She loved travel and the arts.
She is survived by her son, John L. Wise III and his wife, Geraldine Wise, of Oakland, Calif., formerly of Butler; two grandchildren, John “Laing” L. Wise IV of Philadelphia, and Hunter N. Wise of New York; and two stepgrandchildren, Laura Schafer of Oakland, and Daniel Schafer of Philadelphia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Wise Jr., whom she married on Oct. 20, 1951, and who passed away Jan. 10, 1996; her daughter, Amy W. Wise, who passed away Nov. 11, 2014; and her brother, Paul B. Green of Stanford, Calif.
WISE — A celebration of the life of Eleanor “Ellie” Green Wise, who died Monday, Sept. 9, 2019, will be held at a later date for family and friends.
A private burial will take place at North Side Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, Butler.
