Greta Monnie

Monnie

During the morning hours of May 3, 2023, Greta Kaye (Billman) Monnie joined her beloved husband, Richard Monnie, in their heavenly home.

Greta was born in Butler on March 28, 1935, to George and Elsie Billman.

Greta graduated from Butler High School in 1954. She was a member of the marching band, and played clarinet along with her twin sister, Gerda.

During her school years, she worked at G.C. Murphy department store, and later she worked in the cafeteria at Butler Senior High.

Greta and her husband were members of Faith Fellowship Alliance Church. They served in many capacities, but especially enjoyed leading the Adult Fellowship Group and had organized many trips and parties for their church friends.

Greta enjoyed traveling from a young age, spending summers in New York, and camping with the family. She and Richard traveled to many states in our country — they saw most of them! When their children were overseas in Germany and Japan, they enjoyed extended visits sightseeing with them. They spent a few years living in Florida when Richard retired, but returned home to care for their parents.

Greta is survived by her five children, Deborah Clark, Karen Mayfield, Denise (Scott) McCormick, Donna (Joe) Cranmer and Douglas (Carol) Monnie; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elsie Billman; her sisters, Sara Amerson, Wanda Dabill and Gerda Crowe; and her sons-in-law, Howard Clark and Coy Mayfield.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone at Good Samaritan Hospice who helped us care for her at her home. Their care was professional and compassionate, and we are forever grateful.
