Lawrence Hay Jr.
Lawrence “Larry” L. Hay Jr., 75, of Worth Township, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023. after a nine-month battle with cancer.
He was born Nov. 13, 1947, in Butler to Lawrence and Helen (Buckley) Hay. Larry was a 1965 graduate of Butler High School and received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Grove City College in 1969.
He was employed with Carbis Walker, McGill, Power & Bell and later started his own business, he practiced accounting for over 50 years.
Larry loved camping with his family and led Bible study on Sunday morning, he was a youth leader for several years, taught adult Sunday school class, preached a sermon on Sunday morning, served as trustee at Harmony Presbyterian Church as well as Irwin Presbyterian Church and was involved with many other functions of the church. He was an avid bowler and loved reading as a pastime.
Larry is survived by his wife, Esther (Gadsby) Hay, whom he married Sept. 2, 1967. Also surviving are two daughters, Kathy Davis and her husband, Doug, and Pam Williams and her husband, Doug, both of Worth Township; five grandchildren, Chelsea (Davis) Hanna and her husband, Johnny, Chad Davis, Casey Davis, Clay Williams and Sierra Williams; two great-granddaughters, Annora and Azaleigh. He is also survived by his mother, Helen (Buckley) Hay; three siblings, Edward Hay and his wife, Mary Ann, of Butler, Kathy (Hay) Kramer of Slippery Rock and Daniel Hay and his wife, Jennifer, of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.
HAY — Funeral arrangements for Lawrence “Larry” L. Hay Jr., who died Saturday, May 6, 2023, have been entrusted to ROSE AND BLACK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Irwin Presbyterian Church, 3653 Georgetown Road, Stoneboro, with Pastor Bobbi Hunt and Pastor Willard Morse, officiating.
Private interment will take place at Mount Irwin Cemetery.
