Cranberry Township police remind people to lock cars, remove valuables after series of break-ins
Cranberry Township police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables after several vehicles were broken into at three locations Sunday afternoon, May 7.
Between 4 and 6 p.m. Sunday, the police department responded to six to seven break-ins at North Boundary Park, St. Ferdinand Catholic Church and Graham Park, Lt. Chuck Mascellino said Tuesday.
“We strongly encourage everyone to take all valuables out of their car — no matter how long you’ll be gone,” he said. “These are crimes of opportunity.”
He said valuables, including purses, were taken from the vehicles.
Mascellino said warmer weather can prompt an uptick in car break-ins, particularly in instances where valuables are visible within the vehicle.
“We’re not the only place this happens in. It happens everywhere. Everyone should be aware,” he said.
