Medical helicopter called to Tuesday morning rollover crash on Route 8

A medical helicopter was used to transport a patient from a one-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 8 and Hansen Avenue, near Picklegate Crossing, Tuesday morning, May 9.

The crash was reported around 8 a.m. Dispatchers said one patient was in the vehicle and found not breathing.

Just after 8 a.m., LifeFlight was requested to respond to the scene.

Traffic was briefly blocked near the intersection and later controlled by a four-way stop signs due to the crash impacting a traffic signal.

The intersection will remain a four-way stop until the traffic signal is repaired, according to a statement from the state Department of Transportation sent around 10 a.m. Crews were working on the traffic signal Tuesday.

There is no estimated time for the repair, and motorists should use caution in this area, according to PennDOT.

Butler Township police and volunteer fire department, Butler City Bureau of Fire and Butler Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
