Eceil F. Johnston
Eceil F. Johnston, 79, of Ridgeville died at 4 p.m. Wednesday at his home.
Born Oct. 20, 1928, in Ridgeville, he was the son of Andrew Floyd and Retta Mae Hilliard Johnston.
He was a member of the Ridgeville United Methodist Church.
Mr. Johnston had been a foreman in the construction department at Pullman Standard Railroad Manufacturing. Following the closing of Pullman, he was employed by Warner and Warner Construction. When he was younger, he worked at the Bantam Car Co.
He also built livestock trailers. He built many wagons and carts for horses. One covered wagon he built for the Bicentennial in 1976 traveled across the state to Valley Forge.
He enjoyed country music, both listening and watching it being performed, which led him to travel to Nashville, Tenn., and Branson, Mo. He loved and enjoyed his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle E. McCandless Johnston, whom he married May 12, 1950; two daughters and their husbands, Jackie and John Pry of West Sunbury and Beverly and Mike Taylor of Chicora; a son and his wife, Rick and Rosalyn Johnston of Petrolia; six grandchildren, Rod Johnston, Tina Bailey, John Pry Jr., Nicole Cramer, Mike Taylor and Ben Taylor; and nine great-grandchildren, James, Michael, Lucy, Makala, Brock, Megan, Jake, Brooklynn and one expected in September; three sisters, Mrs. William (Edna) Dillaman of Ridgeville, Mrs. Samuel (Vera) Weber of New Castle and Viola McCracken of Grove City; and a brother, Clarence Johnston of Grove City.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
<B>JOHNSTON</B> — Friends of Eceil F. Johnston, who died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Sunday at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Ridgeville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wade Berkey, his pastor and the Rev. Kathleen Soltis, his former pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the Rosewood Cemetery.
