Linda Dorenkamp

Our Angel on Earth, Linda Diane DiGiacomo Dorenkamp, 74, of Butler, passed away on Oct. 13, 2021, after a very courageous nine-year battle with Parkinson's disease.

Through the kindness and generosity of so many family and friends near and far, she was able to remain in the comfort of her own home until she succumbed to, not the Parkinson's, but to the will of God while surrounded by her family.

Born April 8, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Catherine Spinetti DiGiacomo.

She was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

She wore several hats during her employment throughout the years. Her very first job was working for the PA Highway Department. Once she became a mother, she was a homemaker while her children were young, then she became a school crossing guard, so that she would still have days off while her children were home. From there she went to Spang/Magnetics and then retired from the County of Butler, where she worked in the Recorder of Deeds office and Register of Wills office.

Linda lived her life through God's example. She was that friend, that co-worker, that neighbor, that stranger who would show up on the doorstep when someone was faced with life's challenges or celebrating a joyous occasion.

Over the years, one of Linda's greatest joys was hosting an annual Christmas Eve celebration that was the true definition of an “Open House.” Linda also enjoyed adventures to casinos, trips to the beach, gatherings with friends, shopping with close friends and a good old-fashioned game of 500 bid.

Above all, Linda's greatest joys in life were spent with her children and her grandchildren. She was devoted to supporting them in the many sports, activities, and endeavors that they participated in over the years, and she would travel miles upon miles to watch them play. Linda's presence always brought joy to all of the players and their parents and she was “GaGa” to all.

Linda and her husband Larry had enjoyed 54 years of blissful marriage while raising two wonderful children, who try to live by their example.

The number of visitors and well-wishers that Linda had received over the past months is indicative of the impact she had on the lives that she touched.

As Linda is received into the arms of Our Almighty God, we would ask that she be honored by you being that person Linda was to so many… show up on that doorstep for that friend, that co-worker, that neighbor, or that stranger to show support for a life's challenge or a joyous occasion.

Linda is survived by her husband, Lawrence E. Dorenkamp; her daughter, Lisa M. (Bill) Povlick of Butler; her son, Lawrence P. (Julie) Dorenkamp of the North Hills; two grandsons, Brayden and Coltyn Povlick of Butler; her loving granddog, Beau, who never left her side; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Sister Nancy Schnur. Linda really looked forward to her frequent visits and found her a source of comfort.

They would also like to thank VNA Hospice and her dedicated caregiver, Jasmine Donnell.
