Donald Wimer
Donald Theodore Wimer, 91, of Butler went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Jan. 23, 1929, in Fort Crampel, French Equatorial Africa, he was the son of Theodore Braden and Lila Elizabeth (Thornton) Wimer.
Donald was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Butler.
He served in the South Carolina National Guard.He loved to walk around Butler while he was able, was on a bowling league, and was an avid reader, especially about health-related topics.He is survived by his sister-in-law, Pat Wimer of Charlotte, N.C.; and his nieces and nephews, Karen Wimer Weaver of Mooresville, N.C., Ken and Mary Wimer of Shreveport, La., Susan Hall and Joe Hors of Wrightsville, Pa., and Rod Wimer of Charlotte, N.C.He had eight great-nieces and great-nephews and eight great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brothers, Laurence, Arthur and Gordon; and his sister-in-law, Alice Wimer.WIMER — Due to COVID-19, there will be no viewing for Donald Theodore Wimer, who died Monday, Dec. 28, 2020.Interment will be private at Greenlawn Burial Estates.A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, 221 New Castle St., Butler, with Pastor David Maitland officiating.Arrangements are under the direction of Young Funeral Home, Butler.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baptist Mid- Missions, P.O.
