Elizabeth Steele Aikin

Aikin

Elizabeth "Betty" Steele Aikin, 84, of the Orchard in Butler passed away Tuesday after a short illness.

Betty was born in Omaha, Neb., and lived there and in Alda, Neb., until her marriage to Donald C. Aikin.

Their home for many years was in the Dunkirk/Fredonia, N.Y., area. They retired and moved to Little River, S.C., where she enjoyed volunteering at the hospital gift shop. She was a member of the Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church, where she served as a greeter, folded programs and helped with the monthly newsletter. Betty also was active with community activities, such as fall festivals, beach cleanups, collection drives and working the voter polls during elections.

She had a smile and a greeting for everyone, never forgot her lipstick and denim rocked in her closet. She was an avid reader, bridge player and always looked at the positive side of life.

Betty will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Doug (Barbara) Aikin of St. Louis, Mo., Sherry (Paul) Eismann of Butler and Steve (Toni) Aikin of Fort Worth, Texas; her grandchildren, Shannon Monson of Warrington, Pa., Christopher Aikin of St. Louis, Jon Aikin of St. Louis, Kasey Aikin of Fort Worth, Aaron Aikin of Fort Worth, Katie Johnson of Butler, Seth Eismann of Butler, Joanna Peterson of Denmark, Nella Quertinmont of Butler and Ryan Adams of Phoenix, Ariz.; her great-grandchildren, Jake Monson, Reilly Monson and Ellie Monson, all of Warrington, and Josie Johnson of Butler; her sister, Evelyn Parsons of Jamestown, N.Y.; two nieces, Debbie Steele of California and Jan Mara of Lakewood, N.Y.; and a nephew, Greg Parsons of Springville, Ill.
