Ethel May Tagg

Ethel May (Williford) Tagg, 93, of Mars went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday with her family by her side.

The oldest daughter of 11 children, she was born Oct. 20, 1915, in Hodges, Ala., to the late George W. Williford and Mamie A. Vickery Williford.

She was raised in Hodges, before moving to Pittsburgh, where she met her husband, Harry C. Tagg, while working for the Armstrong Cork Co.

Mrs. Tagg was a mother, homemaker, an avid gardener, talented seamstress and later worked as a home health aide caring for seniors in their homes.

She enjoyed attending church and was a former member of the Kathryn Kuhlman ministry.

Faith and family were extremely important to Mrs. Tagg. She received great joy from spending time with her family. She was a very generous, kind-hearted and selfless woman. She sacrificed much for her family and she leaves behind a tremendous legacy to her family and friends.

Mrs. Tagg was a wonderful storyteller, especially as she had witnessed so much in her lifetime. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Tagg is survived by a son, Gary F. Tagg of Butler; a daughter-in-law, Jo Ann (Tagg) Newcomer of Butler; five grandchildren, Tracy L. Stevenson and her husband, David, of Butler, Elisabeth A. Cordray and her husband, Robert III, of Springfield, Va., Jody L. Kohser and her husband, Chip, of Monaca, CPT (P) Nathanael S. Tagg and his wife, Carolyn, of Camp Zama, Japan, and M. Erin Tagg of Yokaichi, Japan; three great-grandchildren, Tristen, Tori and Landon Stevenson of Butler; a great-granddaughter due in August; two sisters, Loie (Avery) Emerson of Hamilton, Ala., and Janie Engle of Tecumseh, Mich.; a brother, K.V. and his wife, Yvonne, Williford of Hodges, Ala.; a sister-in-law, Eileen Williford of Hackleburg, Ala.; and a large number of beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Tagg; a son, Donald C. Tagg; a daughter-in-law, Connie M. Tagg; five brothers, Waymon Williford and his wife, Nellie, Guy Williford and his wife, Maxine, Rex Williford, J.T Williford and his wife, Lizzie, and Troy Williford and his wife, Eileen; an infant sister, Lettie Williford; a sister, Ruth Engle and her husband, Lester; and by brother-in-laws Raymond Avery and W.T. Engle.

TAGG — Friends of Ethel May (Williford) Tagg, who died Monday, July 13, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Westminster PCA Church, 420 N. Main St., Butler, with the Rev. Dennis Krajacic of the Community Alliance Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Summit United Presbyterian Church Cemetery.Contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Care Center, c/o St. John Lutheran Care Center's Benevolent Fund, P.O.
