William G. Pettigrew Sr.
William G. Pettigrew, Sr., 95, Mars, formerly of Jeannette, Pa., passed away Saturday morning at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township, Pa.
Born Sept. 1, 1922, in Greensburg, he was the son of the late Andrew and Frances Krantz Pettigrew.
Bill had been a laborer for Fisher Body in Dravosburg.
He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II and had been a member of the Jeannette American Legion.
Active in his community, he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Norwin Elks, past president of the Jeannette Lions Club and past president of the Jeannette Baseball Association. Bill also enjoyed golf.
Surviving are his son, Dr. William G. Pettigrew Jr. and his wife, Debrah, of Mars; his grandchildren, Melissa (David) Rhen, Jeffrey (Katie) Pettigrew, Molly (Brian) Piercy and Matthew (Laura) Pettigrew; his great-grandchildren, Izabella, Aubrey and Elizabeth Pettigrew, Ella and Landon Rhen and Carmella and Colestock Piercy; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Mareschi Pettigrew; and his siblings, Betty Brinkley and Jack, Robert and Richard Pettigrew.
PETTIGREW — The family of William G. Pettigrew Sr., who died Saturday, June 30, 2018, will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Kilian Church, 7076 Franklin Road, Cranberry Township, with Father Charles Bober, pastor, officiating. Military honors will follow at the church.Committal services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont.Memorials may be directed to the Mars Planet Foundation, P.O.
