Patricia Newton

Patricia Ann Newton, 74, of Harlansburg, Scott Township, Lawrence County, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at Jameson Memorial Hospital, New Castle.

Born in Vandergrift, Westmoreland County, March 6, 1936, she was the daughter of Ella (Richey) Updegraff.

She married Gene L. Newton in 1955, and he died Oct. 27, 1999.

Mrs. Newton was a homemaker and attended the Victory Church in New Wilmington.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, spending time outdoors and collecting angels.

Surviving are three daughters and a son, Cheryl A. and her husband, Ronald Fennick, of Scott Township, Sandra L. Staph of New Castle, Karen S. and her husband, Dennis McCormick, of West Sunbury and Michael P. Newton and his wife, Roxane, of Slippery Rock; a niece, Lisa Updegraff of Harlansburg; two brothers, Dave Updegraff of Butler and Paul Updegraff of Oil City; a sister, Kathy and her husband, Glenn Spencer, of Harlansburg; six grandchildren, Brandy, Michael, Josh, Desiree, Billy and Joey; and two great-grandchildren, David and Dylan.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was a preceded in death by a brother, Richard; and a son-in-law, Sam Staph III.

<B>NEWTON</B> — Services for Patricia Ann Newton, who died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, will be at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, at 11 a.m. Saturday. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be at the Slippery Rock Cemetery.
