Robert Thomas 'Bob' McGuirk
Robert Thomas “Bob” McGuirk, 81, of Butler passed away at 8:35 a.m. Friday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born on May 24, 1932, in Butler, to the late Harry E. McGuirk and Iva (Allison) McGuirk.
Bob attended the Hill United Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of Butler High School, graduating in 1950, and then attended the University of Pittsburgh.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Bob was a job order cost clerk in the maintenance control department at ARMCO Steel, retiring in 1993 after 41 years of service.
He belonged to the 769 William H. Miller Lodge F&AM, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of New Castle, the Syria Caravan 14 of Butler, the Syria Temple of Pittsburgh, the Shrine Luncheon Club, and was past treasurer of the Knights and Nobles Charities.
Bob was a Boy Scout leader at the Grace Lutheran Church. Bob was a Sunday school teacher at the Grace Lutheran Church. He sang in the Hill United Presbyterian Church choir and the Blazing Star Choral Society. He enjoyed woodworking and doing stained glass. Bob enjoyed gardening, being a bass chorale singer and a volunteer usher at the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh.
Bob is survived by his wife, Margaret E. McGuirk, who he married on Sept. 11, 1953; his son, John E. McGuirk of Santa Rosa, Calif.; his three daughters, Kathryn S. Philabaum and her husband, the Rev. Dr. Timothy, of Perrysburg, Ohio, Dr. Marjorie A. Vogt and her husband, Dr. Dan, of Delaware, Ohio, and Elizabeth R. Gazica and her husband, Gary, of Ross Township, Pa.; his 10 grandchildren, Aaron Philabaum, Matthew Philabaum, Allison Philabaum, Brynna Vogt, Gretchen Vogt, Rebecca Vogt, Sarah Gazica, Joshua Gazica, Caitlin Gazica, and Lauren Gazica; his great-grandchild, Addison Philabaum; his two nieces, Dr. Martha (Zeigler) Eberhardt and her husband, Paul, and Ann (McCollough) Caldwell and her husband, David; his six nephews, Marc McCollough and his wife, Karla, Richard McCollough, Vance McCollough and his wife, Marjorie, Bruce McCollough, James McCollough and Scott McCollough.
He also is survived by his brother-in-law, Brice McCollough and his wife, Kathy, and two other sisters-in-law, Ruth McCollough and Joan McCollough.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Zeigler.

Dr. Timothy Philabaum of the Zoar Lutheran Church, Perrysburg, Ohio, son-in-law of deceased, Father William McGuirk of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Youngwood, Pa., and the Rev.
