John Markiw of Phoenix, Ariz., passed away Monday.

Born in Butler, Dec. 1, 1941, John moved to Arizona after his military service with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He remained a Pittsburgh Steelers' fan for life.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia; his son, John D.; his daughter, Debra Miles (Keith); his granddaughter, Alannah; and his brother, Joseph.

<B>MARKIW</B> Services for John Markiw, who died Monday, April 13, 2009, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, at the Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, Glendale, Ariz., preceded by viewing at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Arizona Humane Society or Arizona Special Olympics.
