Andy Lonchena, 87, of Butler died Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 10, 1921, in Bredinville, a son of the late Peter and Anna Koday Lonchena.

Andy worked in hot and cold mill maintenance at Butler Armco, retiring in 1983.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of VFW Post 249 in Butler and American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.

Mr. Lonchena was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Richard Saeler of Meridian and Theresa and Anthony Baron of Butler; a son, Dennis L. Lonchena and his wife, Nancy, of Severna Park, Md.; a brother, Walter Lonchena of Butler; and five grandchildren, Stephanie Lonchena, Brynn Saeler, Allison Baron, Tim Lonchena and Grant Baron. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

His wife, Frances Nowakowski Lonchena, whom he married May 10, 1947, preceded him in death Aug. 11, 2002. Three brothers and five sisters also preceded him.

<B>LONCHENA</B> — Friends of Andy Lonchena, who died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, will be received from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the St. Peter Cemetery.The Women's Council of St. Peter Parish will meet at 9:40 a.m. Saturday at the church to recite the rosary.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VFW Post 249 Ceremonial Squad, 429 W.
