Robert P. “Spider” Evans, 69, of Butler, passed away Monday morning, June 19, 2023, in the comfort of his home.

He was born March 9, 1954, in Butler, a son of the late William H. Evans and Ruth (Smith) Evans.

Spider worked at the AK Steel plant in Butler for 43 years, retiring in 2016. He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler, the American Legion 117, the United Bow Hunters, the Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club and the Moraine Sportsmen’s Club.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa A. (Frerotte) Evans, whom he married May 22, 1999; his brothers and sisters, William (Patty) Evans and Joyce (Michael) Long of Florida, Deborah Evans and John (Sue) Evans of Butler, Holly (Lisa) Evans of Harrisburg and Bradley (Hannia) Evans of North Carolina; two daughters, Tanya (Robert) Kirkwood of Butler and Jennifer (Haakon) Kalkvik of Florida; a grandson, Logan Kirkwood of Butler; and three grandchildren in Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Karen McClure; an aunt, Joan Evans; and a niece, Meridith McClure.

EVANS — Friends of Robert P. “Spider” Evans, who died June 19, 2023, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler. The Rev. John Baver to officiate.
