Police: Butler woman failed to pay for hundreds of lottery tickets
A Butler woman’s luck ran out when she was accused of scratching over 500 lottery tickets without paying for them while employed at a Summit Township convenience store.
Amanda K. Fennell, 42, was charged with felony theft after state police viewed surveillance footage following a string of thefts in February at the Herman Mini Mart.
Police said they were contacted by an owner about Fennell scratching lottery tickets during work.
From Feb. 20 to 27, surveillance footage showed Fennell scratching a total of 566 lottery tickets, then scanning them and setting winning tickets aside, according to documents.
The scratched tickets amounted to $5,514 in cost.
Fennell’s preliminary hearing before District Judge Lewis Stoughton is scheduled for Aug. 8.
